“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”-Bhagavad Gita

You don’t have to do a handstand or have a desire to build a yoga empire to begin a journey of the self. Fully immerse yourself into a multi-dimensional approach to the practice of Yoga.

Build confidence through community, gain a radical sense of self-acceptance and graduate with a foundation to share your joy and love of Yoga.

“Yoga is a mirror to look at ourselves from within.” -B.K.S Iyengar

A deeper practice doesn’t necessarily mean that your current practice is shallow, but maybe it has only scratched the surface. If you're prepared to explore the purpose behind each pose, sequence, and piece of yogic philosophy that you've acquired in bite-sized pieces, start your journey here.

We cater to all learning styles by incorporating movement practice, discussions, videos, class observations, teaching practice, essays, 1:1 feedback, team projects, and books into our curriculum.

The required reading includes:

  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

  • Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar

  • Light on Pranayama by BKS Iyengar

  • Bhagavad Gita

  • The Language of Yoga by Nicolai Bachman

At The Journey Within Yoga School, a team of experienced instructors foster an introspective learning environment with a non-dogmatic approach to Yogic philosophy. This allows practitioners to personalize their own practice, while taking a seat of the observer and to make space for new points of view.

Honoring Tradition

A Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) weekend at Yoga By You Studios commences with Kula, which means community in Sanskrit. Students and instructors will gather in a circle to kick off the weekend. Together, making space to create community and to share.

Throughout their personal teachings and practices, each teacher trainee decides whether to incorporate Sanskrit or not. In this program, you learn to pronounce, sing, and chant Sanskrit words with an intention to understand why we say what we say, and do as we do.

This language is universally referred to for yoga teachings, encompassing philosophy and poses. Using it could help bridge pathways to other teachers and students beyond your local community.

Modern Practices

Approaching YTT from a therapeutic perspective allows you to discover the traditions of Yoga and study how it has evolved into an inclusive, accessible lifestyle. The focus on the senior population, expectant parents, and our military community on the Emerald Coast will help you build confidence to guide them on a journey that may look different from your own.

Various modifications, and the use of props and language will be studied along with other forms of therapeutic yoga like Yoga Nidra, Restorative, Yin and Chair.

Karma Yoga, (Yoga of action or duty) is also important to understand as a means to honor tradition. Though, it may not mean what you think. It is a path for seva or selfless service. This is an important step to become free from ego and attachment.

satya-pratiṣthāyāṁ kriyā-phala-āśrayatvam When one is established in truthfulness, actions begin to bear fruit. -Yoga Sutra 2.36

Becoming a teacher is a journey of continuous growth and discovery. It means embracing every opportunity to learn from your students, fellow instructors, and even from your own practice.

It is within this journey that you find your unique voice both on and off the mat. Along the way, you build resilience, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the gifts you have to share to help your students and community.

It's important to remember that teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but also about inspiring, and creating a safe environment where every student feels valued and heard.
